Dried Mugwort

An herb used traditionally to flavor beer before the widespread use of hops, mugwort can be used to add a bitterness to beer. Its flavor is sage-like, and may be used by brewers trying to recreate ancient and traditional beers. It is best used in holiday, Belgian specialty, and smoked beers and is complimented by the flavors of orange peel, juniper and licorice. Use up to 2 oz per 5 gallons anytime during the boil.
