The buret is made of acrylic for durability, and has a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) plastic plunger stopcock for resistance to chemicals, moisture, and high temperatures. Acrylic is lightweight, and resists shattering, impact, and most non-abrasive cleaners including ammonia and strong detergents. PTFE plastic is a strong, low-friction material that has smooth transfer, high surface release, and nonstick properties.
